Tagus Art Gallery

Interior Render

Brief

This project adheres to the principles established by the Tagus Monitoring and Research Centre design and its masterplan. It proposes the creation of a public space that can serve as an anchor for both the new waterfront developments and the older, existing areas of Aterro da Boavista (Boavista landfill).

The chosen public space is an art gallery that comprises an auditorium and a café. The building is connected by a new pedestrian bridge designed to link the existing areas across the boulevard, which separates the older and newer phases of the site.

The art gallery is divided into two levels, connected by a series of ramps that create a continuous circulation in and out of the building. Visitors are guided through the art displayed inside and the surrounding city. The building is clad in zinc with a concrete plinth.
