Brief

A cosy (mysig) cabin (stuga) in the wilderness of northern Sweden. The 30m2 cabin is designed as a retreat space for a small family. The A-frame cabin is constructed from locally sourced wood and is situated by a lake. Its front elevation is glazed, providing views of the water, surrounding forest, and distant mountains.

The natural surroundings contrast with the dark and rugged stuga, which is covered in an impermeable black canvas. Inside, sheets of birch plywood provide a warm and comfortable feel, with accent colours for the kitchenette and toilet areas. The cabin is organised into two levels, designed for its main purpose: a small yet cosy space where a family can enjoy nature and socialise while benefiting from the basic amenities of a larger home.

The A-frame stuga offers a social area, big enough for a set of soft seating and mattresses, with supporting kitchenette and toilet at its back. Above the toilet and kitchenette lays a loft with a small mattress.
